الكسل مصدر كل الشرور Idleness is the source of all evil

الخبر السيء ينتشر بسرعة Ill news travel fast

مال الحرام لا يدوم Ill- gotten gains never proper

السلامة خير من الندامة It is better to be safe than sorry

الكسل مفتاح الـفـقـر Idleness is the key to beggary

رضا الناس غاية لا تدرك It is hard please every one

لو كانت الرغبات خُيولاً لامتطاها الفقراء If wishes were horses, the beggar would ride

سبق السيف العذل It is too late

كثير الكارات قليل البارات Jack of all trades and master of none

التلميذ كمعلمه والخادم كمولاه like master like man

من القليل يجمعُ الكثير Little often fills the purse

فـَكـِّرْ قبل أن تَثِبْ Look before you leap

الهوى شريكُ العمى Love is blind

دع الأشياء الماضية تمضي Let all things past pass

الحياة فرصة Life is an opportunity

كلما قل الكلام سرع التصحيح Least said soonest mended

ما كل ما يتمناه المرء يدركه Man does not attain all his heart's desires

زينة الرجال الأدب وزينة النساء الذهب Manners are men's ornament and those of women is gold

الدراهم تشدُّ الظهر Money makes the mare go

إذا هبت رياحك فاغتنمها Make hay while the sun shines

الأخلاق تصنع الرجال Manners make the man

المرء في التفكير والله في التدبير Man proposes and God disposes

كثرة الأيدي تخفف من عبء العمل Many hands make light work

المصائب نادراً ما تأتي فـُرادي Misfortunes seldom come singly

المال يولد المال Money begets money

كثرة جلبة (ضوضاء) دون فائدة Much ado about nothing

لا بقاء لإنسان وكل من عليها فانٍ No survival to a human being , for all are mortals

لا يأت شيء من الغرب ويسرُ القلب Nothing for the west pleases the breast

الطبيعة تنبذ الفراغ Nature abhors a vacuum

عدم الأخبار ، أخبار سارة No news, is good news

الحاجة أُم الإختراع Necessity is the mother of invention

الضروريات تُبيح المحظورات Necessity has no law

لا تندم على فعل الخير Never regret doing good

من هاب خاب Nothing venture, nothing have

لا كسب دون تعب No gains without pains

لا راحة دون تعب No joy without annoy

الحظ لا ينتظر خلف الباب Opportunities do not wait

مفتاح البطن لقمة One mouthful drives down another
المعروف يُقابل بمثله One good turn deserves another
لكل ٍ غذائه ودواءه One man's meal is another's poison

المال السايب يُعلم الناس الحرام Opportunity makes the thief

بعيدٌ عن العين ، بعيدٌ عن القلب Out of sight, out of mind
من خَلا من الدَّيـْن ، خَلا من الخطر Out of debt, out of danger

إخترْ أهون الشرين Of the two evils choose the less

تتباعد الشعوب لأنها تبني أسواراً بدلا ًمن مدِّ الجسور بينها People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges

كثرة التكرار تجعلكم شطّـار Practice makes progress (or perfect)

الفقر مع الأمن خيرٌ من الغنى مع الخوف Poverty with safety is much better than riches with fear

التظاهر بالفضائل قد يكون غطاءً للرذائل Pretending virtues may be a covering for vices

أول الصبر مُرّ وآخره حلو Patience is bitter but bears sweet fruits

الصبر مفتاح الفرج Patience is the key to relief

الفقر ليس إثماً Poverty is no sin

من صبر ظفر Patience and time bring every thing to bear

الوقاية خير من العلاج Prevention is better than cure

مارس ما تُبشر به Practice what you preach

ما يكسب بسهولة ، يضيع بسهولة Quickly come, quickly go

في العجلة الندامة Quick thoughts are slippery thoughts
